Sinus health and sinus infections

Sinus infections almost always start as a viral infection not a bacteria infection.  In fact, a Mayo Clinic study found when actually culturing the sinus cavities of patients with sinusitis and chronic sinus infections, 96% had chronic fungal infections, not bacteria infections.1   This explains the ineffectivness of antibiotics  prescribed numerous times and individuals still finding very little long term relief of their symptoms.   A sinus rinse morning and evening with just saline and also steaming once a day at least can be very beneficial.   Steam a pot of water, take it off the stove, throw a towel over your head and the pot, then breathe alternating nostils.  If syptoms like headaches and facial pressure still plague you acupuncture treatments for acute cases are very effective for the discomfort and pain.
